Can I bring my existing phone number to Votel?
Yes. Votel has its own built-in phone and SMS platform, with a web phone and a power dialer with voicemail drop, and you can port numbers in from any carrier, including GoHighLevel, Twilio, Nextiva and others. The process is the same for all of them, and it is a full port: the number moves into Votel rather than staying managed in your other provider's account.
- Go to Settings, then Phone, and open the Transfer numbers tab.
- Click Start a transfer.
- Enter the phone numbers and the account details from your current provider.
- Provide a letter giving us permission to take the number over.
That starts the port. You get a firm order commitment (FOC) date, normally two to three days in the future. After the port, the number appears in your phone number list, where you manage it and choose which AI agent answers it. You can also give the number to support and they will port it in for you.
Texting approval (A2P or 10DLC) does not move with the number, and it is needed only to send texts, not for calls. If you already send SMS from the number, get approved in Votel first and then port, so there is no texting downtime. If you are not texting yet, you can port first and apply afterward.
If you would rather keep the number with your current carrier, forward its calls to your AI agent's Votel number instead.
