Can I use Votel as the back end for my own app, and how do I connect it?
Yes, this is a common setup. Keep your own app as the front end your customers use, and run the business behind it in Votel: CRM with contacts, subscriptions and cards on file, forms and checkout with receipts and payment elements, pipelines, marketing automations and onboarding sequences (including AI analysis after a form is filled out), email and SMS, social media scheduling, the ad manager, appointments, a unified inbox for texts, email, social DMs and comments, a live support widget, and AI agents for customer service. Your customers log in to your app, not to Votel, so you do not need the white label plan for this.
The most common integration:
- In the form builder, design your sign-up or payment form with the payment element. It is your checkout form: add your products, free trial or paid, and optionally use a two step order form that captures the lead first.
- Publish the form. When someone signs up, it creates their subscription (through Stripe) and their contact, so you see their billing info, purchases and all communication in one place.
- Set the form submission to trigger an automation (form trigger). In it, use an API step to create the user in your own database, and redirect the person to your app.
- For cancellations, when someone clicks cancel in your app, have your app call a webhook. A Votel workflow with a Webhook trigger catches it and cancels the subscription in Votel.
- Work out of Votel for everything else: email blasts, marketing, customer lookup, billing and communication history.
Contacts created inside your own app are not synced automatically. Use the open API to post them to Votel, or tell the AI assistant "post the lead to Votel" and give it the API docs.
