Can one AI agent handle several jobs, like answering calls, sending reminders, following up no-shows and email drips?

Yes. Think of an agent as a role, like a person who can do several jobs, or as an automation workspace. Workflows live inside agents, and one agent can have as many workflows as you want, each running on its own triggers and actions. The AI is used when a step needs it, and the agent's system prompt is always available to any step that needs it.

For example, the same agent can be your receptionist: answer inbound calls, book, cancel or reschedule appointments, answer questions or take a message. Another workflow can call back people who hung up early in the middle of a call, another can send appointment reminders and follow up with no-shows, another can request reviews or run database reactivation, and another can be a twelve month email drip campaign built from steps such as Send email, Send SMS and Wait. Workflows can also send a conversation summary or lead capture email and use conditions, and there are many triggers and steps to choose from.

Workflows can control a phone call like a script (where it goes, what it says and what it does), and the builder highlights where you are during a call. They can also have nothing to do with conversations, such as an email sequence. When the AI builds an agent for you, for example a dental receptionist, it designs the workflow that controls the voice conversations.

You usually do not need a separate agent for each use case, such as speed to lead and abandoned cart. Fewer agents is better, because there are fewer prompts to manage, especially when the agent is already trained on the business and has its FAQs. You can still create multiple agents, for example per sub-account, and organize them in folders.

Often all a workflow needs is a first message that sets the direction. For an abandoned cart call, for example: hi first name, I noticed you started ordering something but did not finish, I am here to help with any questions you might have. Because the AI has that first message as context, plus the system prompt with the type of business and the FAQs, you may not need any other messages. You cannot know what the person will say next, so make one first message and connect nothing after it.

If you cannot find workflows, open Agents and build the workflow from the agent. You can build workflows yourself, or tell the AI assistant what you want and it builds them.
