Do I need to connect Stripe before I create my SaaS plans and sub-accounts?

No. You can create your SaaS plans and your sub-accounts without a payment integration, and we recommend waiting.

When you click Save and publish on a plan with no payment account connected, a message says a payment integration is required and the plan cannot be published. Dismiss it, open the drop-down next to Save and publish, and choose Save as draft. The draft plan is saved and ready to use: you can create sub-accounts on a draft plan or on a published plan.

Wait to connect Stripe until your website is live, your sign-up is ready and your business phone number works. Stripe asks for information about your business, and if your site is not up it may decide the business is not ready and close your account.

When you are ready to charge clients:

  1. Connect your own Stripe account under Settings, then Integrations.
  2. Open each plan and click Save and publish. Publishing creates the plan in your Stripe account. A plan must be published before it can be used on a payment form.

Once Stripe is connected, money from clients who order your SaaS plans, or who put a card on file for usage billing, goes to your Stripe account. Other payment gateways, such as Authorize.net, are available under Integrations for your other products and invoicing.
