Applies to: Agencies with clients or sub-accounts that send SMS

Does each of my clients or sub-accounts need its own 10DLC approval to send texts?

Yes. Each client or sub-account that sends SMS needs its own 10DLC approval, and each pays its own one-time brand fee and monthly plan fee. One approval covers one use case and up to 49 phone numbers, so describe the use case broadly; if a client needs something different later, they must apply again.

There is one narrow exception: the SMS Notification step in the workflow builder. It sends a one-way SMS from Votel's platform using built-in, pre-approved templates, such as new lead notification, appointment booked, appointment reminders, payment received and new message notification. Because it is a notification from the CRM and not a marketing message, it works without your own 10DLC approval. You can send it to your clients or to yourself.

  1. Add the SMS Notification step to a workflow and pick a template.
  2. Choose the values to fill in, such as first name, last name, source, phone and email for a lead notification, or name and amount for a payment received message.
  3. Enter the contact number to send it to.

The template wording is locked, so you cannot write custom messages, and each template already includes the required opt out (STOP) language. Replies to these messages do not come back to you. If you need a template that is not available, ask us to add it. The notification step does not replace missed call text back, which needs your own registration.

If your customers simply chat with your AI agents using numbers on your own approved account, they do not need their own approval for that conversation. If a client plans an SMS blast or any marketing messages, they need their own approval.
