Does Votel send conversion events to Google and Meta, and how do I connect the Facebook Conversions API?
Yes, for both Google and Meta. For Google, events are reported through GA4 with server-side Google Tag Manager containers. For Facebook and Meta, events are sent through the Meta Conversions API.
Set up the Facebook Conversions API before you run any Facebook or Instagram ads, for yourself or for a client. Ad blockers, iPhone privacy limits and blocked cross domain cookies stop a browser pixel from reporting many events. The Conversions API sends events to Meta from our servers on the back end, so it does not depend on the visitor's browser or phone. Meta gets substantially more data, targets better, reaches the 50 conversion events a week more easily, and gives you a lower cost per lead or sale. Skipping it wastes ad money.
- Go to Settings, then Integrations, then Other integrations.
- Click Add Integration, search for Facebook and choose Facebook Conversions API.
- Follow the setup guide and link on that page to create or open your pixel in Meta Events Manager and get two values: your Pixel ID (also called the dataset ID) and an access token.
- Paste the Pixel ID and the access token into the integration.
- Choose All sites (or specific sites), then create the integration and make sure it is turned on.
That is all you need. The client side pixel is added to your sites automatically while that option is checked, so there is no other pixel to add, nothing to do in the website builder and nothing to tell the AI. The default settings are good for most people.
Once it is on, Votel sends these events automatically: page views, payment information added, any contact or interaction with your business (call, text, email or the website widget), purchases, trials started and appointments booked. As long as you use the built-in forms and booking widgets, leads, appointments and sales are tracked with nothing more to do. You can control which purchase types are sent, for example to optimize for a $1 trial conversion.
Meta optimizes toward a goal, so the more it knows about who visited twice, who called or texted and who bought, the smarter its algorithm gets and the lower your cost per conversion can be. Votel also sends hashed (one way encoded) customer information such as name, email and phone. Keep the customer information options checked. This lets Meta match the buyer to the person who saw your ad, even when they clicked on a phone and signed up on a computer, or saw the ad without clicking (a view-through conversion), so your ad gets the correct credit and Meta finds more people like your buyers.
By default the integration applies to all sites in your account. If you or a client has several brands, pixels or Meta ad accounts, set up the integration more than once and limit each one to specific sites. Most people need only one pixel for their brand. Create a separate pixel only for a completely different business or customer type, because a pixel teaches Meta what type of person to target.
When you set up the ad set in Facebook Ads Manager, pick this dataset from the Datasets drop-down. If you need help, click the support button and the team will guide you.
Votel also has its own tracking pixels in two places, the chat widget and Click Tracking. In Click Tracking you get a pixel to put on a site to track visitors, and their activity is added to the contact record.
