How do I add team members and control what each person can see and do?

Everybody who needs access to an account is a team user, for example a VA, a salesperson, a web designer, or call center agents who need their own login to dial out. There is no per user charge: every plan can have unlimited team users. Team users work inside your account and have access to its contacts and everything in it, limited by their role.

  1. Go to Settings, then Team users.
  2. Invite the person.
  3. Give them a role.

Roles are role based access control. For each section of the platform you choose what a role can do, with create, read, update and delete permissions, and you can turn whole pages off. For example, one person can edit websites while another cannot, or a team member can be blocked from contacts or from the AI.

Permissions work per section, not per item: a team member either sees the agents section or does not, and there are no permissions for individual agents. Workers you create in the AI assistant are visible only to you until you share them.

There is no setting that turns off only the phone. To give someone calling access only, turn off everything except what they need, such as Contacts, and the phone stays available.

The same works in a client's sub-account: you can add several team users to one sub-account, each with their own login and role.

If you build your own custom app with the AI, role based access inside that app is something you build into the app itself. It does not inherit Votel's roles.
