Applies to: Agencies that sell SaaS plans to their sub-accounts
How do I bill a customer for usage, like per booking, per app action or a percentage of ad spend?
Create a custom service on the customer's SaaS plan, then add or debit its usage from a workflow. The usage connects to the customer's real-time wallet, so it bills directly, and the platform handles the billing and usage tracking.
- Go to Settings, SaaS Configurator, SaaS plans, open the plan and click the Services tab.
- In the Custom services section, add your service (for example bookings or resume scans) with its units and cost per unit, for example $1.50 per booking.
- Create a workflow in an agent's Agent Workflows with the trigger you need, for example a booking, a form or a Webhook trigger.
- Add a node, search for usage and choose the Usage Based Billing step. Select your custom service and debit one unit (or add units back).
- For your own app, have the app post to the workflow's webhook each time it does the action, so the platform debits the service. You can also limit usage in the app itself.
To meter per customer, create the customer as a contact and give them a SaaS plan, with or without a payment method. That creates their sub-account.
To charge a percentage of ad spend, for example a monthly fee plus 10% of ad spend: create a separate service called ad spend, turn it on, set zero included and bill overage at 10 cents per unit, treating the quantity as dollars. Then debit the ad spend amount with the usage step, for example debit 1,000 to charge 10% of $1,000. You still need to enter or track the amount yourself, for example with a form where you key in the amount, or by having the AI do the math and trigger the workflow.
