How do I connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or my own AI to my Votel account through MCP?
Votel has its own full, built-in MCP server. MCP is a way to connect your own AI to your Votel account so the AI can control it, similar to an API. Any AI tool that supports MCP can connect, for example Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini, Grok-based agents, Abacus AI, VS Code based tools, agent frameworks and local AI agents such as Hermes agent and OpenClaw, or a model you host locally or on your own server.
- In Votel, go to Settings, then API / MCP.
- Open the Connect tab and expand the instructions for your AI (for example Claude). If your tool is not in the list, use the generic connection example at the bottom. Instructions written for one tool generally work in another, because the AI figures it out. For Codex, use the ChatGPT instructions, or paste them to Codex and ask it to connect for you.
- Copy the instructions, paste them into your AI tool and tell it to connect to your Votel account. Most AI tools set up the MCP connection themselves. The most important piece is the MCP server URL. If a provider has changed how connections work and the instructions look off, paste them to the AI anyway and it will figure it out.
- If your AI asks for an API key, create the API key on the API / MCP page.
- You do not need to choose which pieces to connect. Connect them all, and your AI picks the tools it needs. For example, if you ask how many leads you got last week, it looks at the dashboard or analytics tools.
Do the connection from the other AI tool. The instructions are for your outside AI, so do not paste them into the Votel AI assistant: it cannot connect another AI for you, which is why asking it to connect to Gemini does not work.
ChatGPT and Claude need one of their paid plans for MCP to work. For ChatGPT that is the $20 a month plan or higher. The same instructions are in the MCP setup guide at the bottom of our documentation.
Once connected, your AI has the same tools as the Votel AI assistant, more than 380 of them, and the number grows over time, so there is nothing the assistant can do that your AI cannot. That covers everything you can do in the CRM: build websites, funnels, apps, AI agents, workflows, automations and dashboards, post ads, post social content, generate images and video, read your contacts, calls, transcripts and calendar, create tasks, create sub-accounts, check your meetings for the day, or tell you what your revenue was last week. The MCP server is built for AI, so it also gives your AI the instructions it needs to build things correctly. You can also point it at the Votel developer docs.
A connected AI can also do things our assistant does not, such as building PowerPoint decks, Word documents or PDFs, while using the same Votel tools. Websites your AI creates through the MCP connection can be opened and edited in the website builder like any other website.
You can connect several AI tools at the same time and control Votel from any of them, and our own assistant stays available. Work your own AI does through MCP uses your own AI subscription, not Votel AI assistant credits. MCP works for white label accounts too.
To work inside a client's sub-account, connect the MCP to that sub-account using that sub-account's API key. API / MCP is also available in sub-accounts, so an agency's clients can connect Votel to their own Claude, Codex or similar tools, limited to what you give them.
