How do I create a SaaS plan for my sub-accounts and add a markup so I make money on usage?
Every sub-account needs a SaaS plan, so you create a plan before you can create any sub-account. The plan sets what the sub-account pays and which services and features are turned on or off. This is different from GoHighLevel.
- Go to Settings, then SaaS Configurator, then the SaaS Plans tab, and click Create a plan.
- Give the plan a name, for example Starter Plan or Gold Plan. The name does not matter.
- On the pricing tab, click the pencil icon on the right to edit the pricing option and key in your price. Choose how often it bills (monthly is typical), and add a yearly option if you want one. Plans also support setup fees, trials and fixed length subscriptions. If you have not built your offer yet, a placeholder price is fine and you can change it at any time.
- Click Save.
- Open the Service usage and pricing tab. At the top, give each new sub-account a one time credit of a dollar or two. A sub-account with no funds shows a big red banner telling the user there is no money in the account and to add funds, which is a bad first experience.
- Click the 2x button (apply to all services). It sets the price of every service to twice what Votel charges you, so you earn margin on every SMS, email, phone call, phone number, AI credit and everything else. For example, a 25 cent AI credit becomes 50 cents. You can also use 1.5x, 3x or any other multiplier, and clicking a multiplier on a single section applies it to that section only.
- Save the plan. If your payment integration is not connected yet, choose Save as draft from the drop-down next to Save and publish.
The Service usage and pricing page has over 100 services. For finer control you can work service by service: turn a service off, include a set amount, mark it up or make it unlimited. For each service you also choose what happens past the included amount: Deny overage (the client cannot go over and must move to a plan with a higher limit) or Bill for overage (a price per item, for example 1,000 contacts included and a penny per contact after that, or none included and a penny each). You can even limit or charge for things Votel does not charge for, such as contacts, pipelines or custom fields.
We recommend keeping it simple at the start: click 2x, focus on getting clients, and fine-tune the pricing later. Pricing and building your offer are covered in depth on day three of the 5 Day Challenge.
