How do I create a sub-account for a client or a demo account for myself, and why do I need a SaaS plan first?

Create a SaaS plan first (Settings, then SaaS Configurator, then SaaS Plans). A sub-account cannot be created without a plan, because the product you choose when you create a sub-account is your plan, and the plan decides which services the sub-account can and cannot use. Enter a name and a monthly price, then choose which services sub-accounts on the plan can use. A draft plan works.

Before you create client accounts, set up your white label in Settings, SaaS Configurator (the Branding and Custom Domain tabs) and connect your Stripe account so you can charge clients. Optionally, on the plan's Sub-account Defaults page, link a snapshot to the plan so everything is created in a client's account automatically when they buy the plan, and give the plan its own sidebar menu.

  1. Go to Settings, then Sub-accounts (just below SaaS Configurator), and click Create a sub-account.
  2. Enter the account name and the owner's name and email.
  3. On the next page, select the SaaS plan (package) for the account.
  4. Choose how it is billed. To charge the client, add a payment method or let the client add their own card after they log in. Client payments go to your Stripe account, so you never enter your own card. For your own demo or test account, or any account you do not want to charge, choose Free of charge.
  5. Leave "This sub-account is for me" checked (it is checked by default) if you are covering the account's usage. Billing is then off for that sub-account and its usage, including AI assistant use, bubbles up to your agency account, so you do not need to add money to it to send texts and so on.
  6. Click Create sub-account.

The sub-account appears in your list, and the owner normally gets an email invite saying their account is ready. Click the login button on the sub-account to work inside it, and use the account switcher to go up a level back to your agency account. Each sub-account is completely separate, with its own contacts, conversations, calendar, AI assistant, agents, forms and unlimited websites. To build something for a client, log in to their sub-account and ask its AI assistant, the same way you do in your own account.

When a customer buys your plan on your website, their sub-account is created automatically and the plan's snapshot is installed automatically.

We recommend every agency creates a free demo sub-account, so you can show prospects how the platform works without showing your customer list. You do not need a sub-account for your own business; your agency account is the account you work out of.

If you are moving a client from GoHighLevel, create the sub-account first, then import the GoHighLevel export file into it.
