How do I import my existing website into Votel?

There are two ways to bring an existing website into Votel. Choose based on whether you want the site changed.

Import an exact copy (no AI). Use this when you like the site as it is:

  1. Go to Websites and create a new website project (a blank website). Naming it after your domain makes it easy to find.
  2. Open the project and, in the left menu, expand Pages.
  3. Click New (the plus button you would use to add a page) and choose Import from URL instead of a new page.
  4. Choose whether to import one page or the whole site, paste the address, and start the import.

The importer crawls the site and copies its HTML, CSS, JavaScript, styles and images, so you get a pixel perfect copy with no changes, including animated sites. A whole site import brings in up to 2,000 pages. A large site can take a while, so you can leave it running. The page or site must be public so Votel can reach it; a public preview link works. Anything embedded on the old pages, such as another provider's chat widget, comes along too.

The import does not use the AI, so it uses no AI credits. It costs very little, about a penny a page.

It works with sites from ClickFunnels, GoHighLevel, WordPress, Manus, AI-written Next.js sites and just about any other builder. If a site does not import correctly, contact support and we will improve the importer for it.

Rebuild with the AI (uses AI credits). If you want a redesign, paste the old site's address into the AI assistant, tell it to rebuild or redesign the site, and say what you like and do not like (for example keep only the logo and the text). The AI changes the design, so do not use this route when you want an exact copy.

After the import the site is hosted on Votel (hosting is included and you can host unlimited websites) and you can edit it in the drag and drop website builder or with the AI assistant. It runs on a temporary Votel address until you add your own domain in the website's Domains tab.

If you imported a page and do not see it, check the page list of the website project: you may be looking at an older page, or you may have imported it into a different project. To compare an imported page with one you built in Votel, keep both and split test them.

If you are leaving another platform such as GoHighLevel, run the import before that subscription ends or goes past due, because you may lose access to your content once it is terminated. Our team can help with the move.
