How do I keep my AI assistant credit use low?
Every back and forth with the AI is called a turn, and every turn costs credits. These habits keep the cost down:
- Give the AI everything up front instead of asking for one change after another. Before you start, chat with ChatGPT or Claude to write a full plan or requirements document, read it, change what you do not like, then paste it into the AI assistant in one prompt. Say the business type, the clients, the offer, how long a sequence should be and which channels to use (email, SMS or voice). A detailed prompt with exact instructions needs very little back and forth.
- Use the dictation button and talk through what you want, so the first result is close.
- For simple edits, such as changing a color, the logo or some text, use the drag and drop website builder yourself. Everything built in Votel, including websites and funnels, can be edited in the builder, which has prebuilt sections you can add. Small AI edits are typically a credit or less, but doing them yourself costs nothing.
- Sometimes it is easier to start over, or to ask for two or three versions and pick the best, than to edit one site again and again.
- Use the Light setting for mechanical work such as automations and follow-up sequences.
- Be explicit about new work. The assistant looks at your existing websites first, so if you ask for a plumber website and already have one, it may edit that one. Say, for example, "I want a new plumber website, do not touch the existing one, do not look at my other sites." To reuse a logo and name, tell it to use the same logo and name.
- If you make a mistake on a website, the website builder keeps a history, so you can rewind to any point instead of asking the AI to undo it.
- The cheapest way to build a lot is to connect your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription through our MCP server (Settings, then API MCP), so that work uses no Votel AI credits.
