How do I redesign an existing website with the AI assistant?

Give the AI assistant the old site's address and tell it what you want:

  1. Open the AI assistant and start a new chat.
  2. Paste the URL of the old website.
  3. Tell it what to keep and what to change. Type it, or click the microphone for dictation and talk it through. The more detail you give, the better the result. For example: redesign this website from the ground up, keep the logo and images, use a light blue color scheme with bright orange buttons, add entrance animations and mouse animations, make it clean, modern and high converting, put a lead capture form with name, email and phone in the hero section, make the main call to action Book a call, use the conversion rate optimization and copywriting skills, and do not ask more questions.
  4. The AI crawls the site, copies the text and images you asked it to keep, creates new images where needed, makes the site mobile responsive and builds the new site. It may ask your permission to create a site. Turn on the auto approve switch if you want it to approve everything without asking.
  5. A full build typically takes five to ten minutes and runs in the background. A button on the right shows what it is doing step by step.
  6. When it finishes, open the result in a new tab or use the preview button, then keep chatting to change anything.

What you can ask for: keep only the logo, keep the existing color theme, keep the same text, or tell it not to reuse any of the existing text and use it only to understand what the business does. If the AI keeps reusing your old text and structure and you want something completely different, tell it not to use any previous site and describe what you offer and the colors you like. Ask for lots of images: the assistant generates images (and videos) for the site, including when the old site has none. You can give it a link to another page and ask it to reuse parts, such as logos; if the logos are white, tell it to place them on a black background. Use an AI brand kit from the Library so it keeps a client's colors and voice. To add a website widget, paste the widget code into the same chat.

Starting from an existing site gives much better results than asking for a site from nothing, because the AI learns what the business is about and has to make up less. If you have no site, ask the assistant to build a new website from scratch. If a site has gone offline but a copy exists on the Wayback Machine (the Internet Archive), the AI can rebuild it from that copy.

The AI may redesign only the home page. You can then do the other pages, or import them. The same prompt can produce different designs each time, so rerun or tweak the prompt until you love one.

The result appears under Websites, where you can edit it in the drag and drop builder, then connect your domain. A redesign uses AI assistant credits, so make sure your account has credits. The info button at the bottom of the assistant's response shows how many credits it used.

Redesigning a prospect's own site and showing them the before and after is a strong way to start a conversation and win clients. You can run it before you even talk to them.
