How do I set included amounts, limits and overage for each service in a SaaS plan?
Go to Settings, then SaaS Configurator, open your SaaS plan (it has a name, a price and a list of services) and go to the services tab, also called service usage. Every service in the system is listed there, more than 100 of them.
The quick way: click the 2x markup button (or 1.5x), set the plan price and save. Every service is turned on and charged to your sub-accounts at that multiple of what we charge you, so you earn on every email, SMS and phone call without configuring each service.
For finer control, open each service and choose one of these settings:
- Off: the sub-account cannot use the service, so it can never cost anything. For example, a plan that cannot use custom fields.
- Unlimited: the sub-account can use as much as it wants. If you do not price it, you pay our cost.
- Bill overage: choose how many units are included (it can be zero) and the price per unit beyond that. For example none included and 1 cent per contact per month, or 100 forms included and 1 cent for each one after that.
- Deny overage: include an amount and refuse anything above it. For example a plan includes 1,000 contacts, or 10 forms, and the next one is denied until the customer upgrades to a higher plan.
Even services we do not charge for, such as contacts, can be priced. Contacts are unlimited by default on a plan, and you can switch them to bill overage. Limits work for things like contacts, forms, apps, minutes and SMS. To include 1,000 minutes of calling, type 1000 for that item. Sub-accounts cannot go over the limits you set, except for a few things we cannot block, such as receiving an inbound SMS.
Deny overage is how you build tiers: when a customer hits a cap, they switch to the next plan. Each time a client switches plans they receive the new plan's service limits automatically, with no manual work. For example, moving from a starter plan with 1,000 contacts to a gold plan with unlimited contacts changes their limit for you. Usage is billed automatically from the client's wallet.
If you charge a high monthly price, it may not make sense to bill small amounts for messages. If you do not bundle a service into the package, bill its usage with a markup such as 2x so you still earn a margin on it.
