How do I set up a demo sub-account to show prospects?
Do demos in a sub-account created just for demos, so you do not expose your own contacts, customers or private data when you share your screen. A prospect may ask what the CRM or the calendar looks like, and you do not want to open pages that show private data.
- Go to Settings, then Sub-accounts, and create a sub-account.
- Name it something like Demo account and give it a valid email address (one is required).
- Select the Free plan, because you are not billing yourself.
- Turn on the setting that marks the sub-account as yours, so all its billing rolls up to your account and it has no billing of its own.
If the demo account already exists without that setting, open the sub-account, edit its balance and set a very high number. It is your own wallet, so it does not matter, and the sub-account will not be billed.
One demo account is usually enough. You only need more than one if you serve different niches with different sidebars.
To switch in quickly, click your logo at the top left and use the search box to find a sub-account by name or email (search for demo to find your demo account). Clicking the account name logs you in as that account, and clicking the small circle icon opens that person's contact. Use the switcher at the top to move back and forth.
A sub-account you log into opens in a new tab on a separate domain (app.nocotel.com), so you can keep one account open in one browser window and another in a second window and work in both at once. For example, keep the prospect's contact open in your main account to take notes while you demo from the demo account.
