How do I test my AI agent before going live, and does testing cost money?

Open the agent or workflow and click Test. There are three test modes, and they all work the same way:

Voice: simulates an inbound or outbound phone call.

Chat: simulates an SMS or website chat conversation.

Through a workflow: starts the workflow with your contact and highlights each step as it runs, so you can see in real time which path it took and what happened at each step (for example an email that did not go out because the email domain was not set up).

You can edit the agent live while you test.

When testing, enter your own cell phone number rather than the business owner's, so you do not call the business owner dozens of times.

Cost: testing costs what the channel costs. A voice test uses voice minutes. If a workflow you test sends an email or an SMS or makes a phone call, those still cost money.

There is also the Simulator, which does not cost for the phone. After you create your AI agents, the AI generates test cases for the possible paths (for example a person who does or does not answer the phone, or who asks a particular question), and you can run them all with one click.
