How many SaaS plans and add-ons should I offer my clients, and should I offer annual pricing?

Votel recommends two plans, three add-ons, and a monthly and an annual option for each plan.

Two plans, not more: the more options people have, the fewer decisions they make, so five or ten plans make the choice hard, and three or more plans lower conversion rates. With one plan the decision is want it or not; with two it is simply plan A or plan B, and a second option gives the customer who wants the top tier somewhere to go, since some people pick the higher plan just because they want the best. Even if you create three plans, show only two on your website.

Three add-ons: once you have your foot in the door with one service, you can offer the others easily because they already exist.

Monthly and annual: inside one plan you can add several pricing options, so give each plan at least a monthly and an annual option. The typical annual deal is to price the year at ten months, so the customer pays for ten months and gets twelve. You get the cash up front, which is great for cash flow and gives a quicker return on ad spend if you advertise or supports your operating costs, and the customer saves some money. Even if only 20 to 25 percent of customers choose it, it is worth having.

To add an annual option:

  1. Go to Settings, then SaaS Configurator, then SaaS Plans.
  2. Open the plan and add a pricing option.
  3. Set the billing cycle to annually.
  4. Enter the yearly price.
  5. Change the label from monthly to yearly.

Base your plans on outcomes your customer already understands, not features. Avoid putting technical details such as minutes or AI credits in your homepage offer: if a plan lists a hundred minutes versus a thousand minutes, customers cannot judge it, start asking how many minutes they will use and compare you with other software. For example, one plan could offer more appointments booked and another a number of social media posts per month. The difference between plans can also be unlimited AI agents versus one agent, or premium support (direct access to you by phone) versus email support.
