How much should I charge my clients, and should I include usage costs or bill them separately?
Price against the outcome, not the software. Do not pitch software and a login. Offer a result, such as booking more beds for a treatment center, or preserving case value for a law firm by making sure its clients attend their treatment. Outcomes let you charge more, and your niche largely sets what you can charge. For example, a personal injury law firm can justify at least $997 a month, and $5,000 a month or more, for a service that protects six, seven and eight figure cases. One agency that books appointments for treatment centers with AI charges about $6,000 a month.
Whether to include usage depends on your audience, your price point and the size of the client's business:
- Low monthly price: you will probably want to bill the client for usage, since AI costs are fractions of a penny.
- High monthly price (thousands of dollars a month): include usage such as call and text costs rather than billing the client a few pennies here and there. A law firm that makes a couple dozen calls a week and pays $1,000 to $2,000 a month or more would typically have the call cost included.
- Very large clients: usage should not be included.
A simple alternative is to double what Votel charges you with the 2x button in your SaaS plan and bill that.
On your landing page, listing the price works for plans of about $997 a month or lower. At higher price points, use a talk to us or demo call button so people see the value before they see the price. A setup fee you can offer to waive is also a good closing tactic.
Pricing is covered on day 3 of the 5 Day Challenge.
