How should I price AI voice minutes and other usage for my clients?
Every usage-based item has a cost, so mark them all up to earn a margin whenever your clients use them. Which usage matters depends on your offer: an AI receptionist is mostly voice minutes, while a database reactivation campaign uses email and SMS.
Set your own price and tell clients what it is. For example, if our cost is 5.8 cents a minute plus tokens, you might charge 12 or 15 cents a minute.
Give clients an estimate so they know what to expect. An AI receptionist that captures a lead or books an appointment usually makes short calls of one to three minutes. At 15 cents a minute, a two-minute call costs 30 cents to capture a lead. Compare that with paying a person to sit by the phone: the AI only costs money while it is talking.
Whether to include usage in your monthly price depends on the client and your price point. A client paying a high monthly fee might get SMS included, while a client who makes a lot of calls might be billed per minute with their own card on file.
