How should I prompt the AI assistant to build a good website?
Open the AI assistant, start a new chat and give it as much detail as you can. A vague prompt tends to produce filler copy, and longer prompts give better results. Use the dictation mic in the chat box and talk for as long as you need instead of typing.
Cover these points:
- The business name, what it does, your niche and who you are targeting (your ideal client).
- The problems you solve and the outcome you deliver. The outcome should be the main focus of the top (hero) section, with how you deliver it explained in the sections below.
- The main call to action, for example Book a call or Get a Quote.
- The layout, for example a high converting landing page with a hero section, a lead capture form on the right, contrasting button colors so the buttons pop (such as blue with a bright orange button) and a section for each service.
- The color scheme and style, for example clean, modern and simple, or leave the colors to the AI.
- Images. Ask for lots of good images that fit your niche. Images make a big difference, and the AI generates them.
- Animations if you want them, such as entrance animations, mouse or hover effects, or an interactive effect.
- The tone of the copy, for example written for a visitor who knows nothing about AI or marketing.
- The skills to use: the design taste skill (removes the typical AI look from websites) and the humanizer skill (removes signs of AI-generated writing), both built in, and if you have the 47 marketing skills, the conversion rate optimization skill and the copywriting (marketing copy) skill. If you do not name a skill, the AI may or may not use it.
Screenshots are the best way to get your message across. Take one or several screenshots of a site you like, even one outside your niche, and say build me a site like this. For the best result, give both the screenshot and the link.
If you have other website projects in your account, tell it to ignore your existing website projects and create a new project from scratch, otherwise it may reuse or modify one.
Design one page first, such as the landing page, and build the inner pages once you like the style. If you build every page at once and dislike the style, you dislike all of them. When you are ready, you can ask for several pages at once (for example terms and privacy pages), SEO included. There is no limit on pages.
For a quick draft, tell it not to ask more questions and just build it. Turning on auto approve means it does not ask for approval for every change. Leave the thinking level slider on medium, which is usually fine.
When it builds a site it generates the images, writes the copy, builds forms such as a book a call form and checks the mobile layout. The AI gives different results each time, so you can run the same prompt a few times, or tweak it, until you get one you love. If the style is off, for example too playful, tell it the style you want and have it redo the site. Afterwards keep asking for changes, such as a brighter orange button, or edit the site yourself in the website builder: click any element and change colors with the color pickers, which is often quicker for small changes.
