Should I offer AEO as a service to my clients, and how do I price and pitch it?
Votel recommends offering AEO (getting cited in AI answers) to your clients as an ongoing monthly add-on service, just as agencies used to sell SEO. It can be applied to any niche.
- Do it for your own business first, then use your own results (for example going from X to Y within ninety days) as a case study when you sell it.
- Set your own price based on volume and competition. A local chiropractor serving a small area is easier to get cited than a business lender, which needs more content and authority. For reference, agencies charge 15,000 to 33,000 dollars or more for this, and one company pitched Votel a 33,000 dollar service for six months, with tiers based on the number of articles and Reddit posts.
- Plan the work. It may take about three to five hours a week per client, and AI tools can do much of the research and content writing.
- Pitch it the way you would pitch SEO: does the client want to pay for Google Ads forever, or build recurring free organic traffic? Instead of higher rankings, it puts them inside the AI answer. For clients already spending on Google Ads, Facebook Ads or other pay per click, suggest spending a little on AEO too.
Because results take one to three months, AEO is not suited to a quick trial offer, but it makes a good add-on. It is a separate service from Google review services and database reactivation.
