When do I connect Stripe, and do my customers' payments go to my Stripe account?

Your customers' payments go to your own Stripe account, and you keep 100 percent of what you bill them. Votel does not bill your customers.

You do not need to connect Stripe at the start of onboarding. It is covered later in setup, and you can use test mode first. Add your live Stripe keys when you are ready to go live, once your website is up and your phone number is working on your site.

1. In Stripe, scroll down to the bottom left and click Developers.
2. Find your keys there, including the option to get the live key.
3. Add the keys to your Votel account.

Turning on live mode may need extra verification from Stripe, such as two factor authentication, business documents or a selfie, depending on your account.

You do not have to wait for a Stripe account to start selling. If a customer has to pay by check or PayPal at first, take the sale.
