Where does the name Votel come from, and how did Votel start?

The name Votel is the words voice and telephone put together. We started as a voice platform, and one of the first things we built was AI agents on the phone.

Votel's founder, Mike Brown, previously created FlowTrack, which still exists and has more than 14,000 people on it. Votel launched publicly in December 2025.

We had the option to bolt AI onto an existing CRM, as GoHighLevel did, or to build an AI first CRM from the ground up. We chose to build from the ground up, because a bolt on feels like a bolt on. It was a lot of work, but it means the AI is part of the system rather than a feature added later.
