Which domain should I use for my white label login, and how do I connect it?

Every white label has one back end domain and as many front end domains as you want.

The back end domain is where you and your customers log in and where you manage your white label. It must be a subdomain, typically app.yourdomain.com. Votel works the same way: votel.ai is our sales page and app.votel.ai is where people log in. Keep your root domain (yourdomain.com) for your front end: your website or sales page where people learn about your services. Do not put the root domain on the Custom domain tab. You do not need two different domains, and if you already have a website on your root domain, you keep it and add the app subdomain.

To connect it:

  1. In the SaaS Configurator, open the Custom domain tab and enter your subdomain, for example app.yourdomain.com. If that is taken, use another subdomain such as login.yourdomain.com or backend.yourdomain.com.
  2. Choose the email and help docs options described below.
  3. Copy the DNS records shown and add them at your domain registrar or DNS provider, wherever you bought the domain.
  4. Once the records are in place, your white label is online. Going to app.yourdomain.com shows a login page with your logo and branding, and you and your clients log in there instead of at Votel's address.

Sending email is on by default, and the default is right for most people. It sends your welcome emails, forgot password emails and many others. Receiving email takes over email completely for that domain. If you already have email on the domain, for example Google Workspace or any existing mailbox, do not turn it on, because it would interfere with your mail. Turn it on only for a new domain with no email when you need the email service.

When you connect the domain, your white label help docs are set up too: our documentation, API guides, videos and change log become yours, with your logo and company name, on your domain, with the videos unbranded.

You do not need a live website or a host on the domain first. Build your front end website later with the AI assistant or the website builder.

If you have several domains, choose one as the back end domain that users log in to. Every other domain (your main website, a funnel with a quiz and so on) is a front end domain, and each website or funnel is a separate website project under Websites.

One white label account has one brand and one back end domain, but unlimited domains and websites. If you run several brands for different niches, pick a generic back end login domain that all brands use, and give each brand its own front end website, on its own domain or on a subdomain such as chiropractors.yourdomain.com.

Use one branded login domain for all customers. A separate login subdomain per customer is not needed. Every time customers log in they are reminded the system is yours, like logging in to HubSpot.

If you do not own a domain, buy one at a registrar such as namecheap.com or godaddy.com. The extension does not matter (.com, .net, .org, .ai). A .com costs about $9 to $10, while .ai domains cost about $80 to $90. Pick something easy to remember and easy to say over the phone. You can change your domain later. If you need help, click the Live support button on the main section of the platform and choose Talk to a person. It rings our support team, and you talk on the same meeting platform with screen sharing. The team has connected domains thousands of times.
